Flo Rida has been ordered to pay more than $400,000 for bailing on Newcastle’s Fat As Butter festival last October.
Accordind to SMH.com.au, the “Wild Ones” rapper pulled out of the show minutes before he was set to take the stage, leaving 11,000 attendees irate. “Flo Rida has slept in and will not be able to make the concert,” organizers Mothership Music told the crowd. “We think he will still be able to do the Mounties concert, but may have difficulty attending.”
Mothership has filed suit against Flo and his management, VIP Entertainment, for breach of contract and damages. Last week, the defendants failed to appear at a hearing where Mothership said 2,000 fans left the concert after Flo’s no-show, causing them to lose sponsorship and food and beverage sales.
“The no-show by Flo Rida damaged the trading reputation of the plaintiff, impacting its ability to stage future events, attract patrons and compete with rivals in the music event industry,” said Judge Judith Gibson.
Gibson ordered the defendants to pay $380,400 in damages and $37,745 in legal fees.
