Ice Cube’s “Ride Along” Earns $47.8 Million This Weekend & Makes Box Office History

Ice Cube’s Ride Along film earned $47.8 million during the four-day Martin Luther King Day holiday weekend, making it the biggest opening during the holiday weekend in film history, according to variety.com.

Ride Along posted $41.2 million in box office receipts in its first three days and $14.4 million in its first day of release Friday (January 17), variety.com reports.

Ride Along, which also stars Kevin Hart, is the #1 movie at the box office this weekend.

Ride Along surpassed the previous Martin Luther King Day holiday weekend record-holder, 2008’s Cloverfield, which opened with $46.1 million.
