Megan Thee Stallion’s Confession Raises Questions About Credibility in Tory Lanez Case

Tory Lanez’s legal team has issued a statement in response to Megan Thee Stallion’s recent revelations in her documentary, In Her Words, which premiered on Amazon Prime Video on October 31. In the documentary, Megan confessed to lying during her 2022 interview with Gayle King about the nature of her relationship with Lanez, saying, “Yes, bch, I lied to Gayle King… We [were] supposed to be talking about this shooting. Why [are] you asking me about fking Tory?” She clarified that their physical relationship was limited to “maybe twice” during drunken nights.

Following this confession, a representative from Lanez’s legal team stated that Megan’s admission undermines her credibility as a witness. They argued, “If someone lies in front of millions of people, how can you trust what they say any other time?” This statement comes as Lanez is appealing his conviction for shooting Megan in July 2020, for which he was sentenced to ten years in prison on charges including assault with a semiautomatic firearm and negligent discharge of a firearm.

Lanez’s team pointed out that they believe Megan’s previous statements included “false statements,” which they intend to highlight in their appeal. In August 2023, he was sentenced after being found guilty on multiple charges related to the incident. His legal troubles have been compounded by his recent filing of an ethics complaint against his former attorney, alleging conflicts of interest due to ties with Megan’s management.

Despite his efforts to overturn the conviction, Lanez has faced challenges in securing bail during the appeal process. His case has sparked significant public discourse regarding issues of violence against women and the treatment of victims in the media.
