On Friday (November 12), Houston emcee, Scarface, played his last solo show as a rapper after announcing his retirement from the genre on his “Geto Boys Reloaded” podcast. Face took his final bow at Houston’s House of Blues, performing some of his greatest hits, deep cuts, and fan favorites for one last victory lap.
The Geto Boys embarked on their last tour after the death of Bushwick Bill in 2019, playing their last show in May of 2019. “The cool part about it is, I get to say farewell twice,” Scarface said. “I get to go out there and say farewell by myself, and then I get to say it with you.”
Scarface continues to be one of the most celebrated emcees of all time; between his part in the Geto Boys and his 11 album solo career, Face has cemented himself as a pioneer of southern hip-hop and storytelling.
Face shared he doesn’t think he could duplicate his earlier work at his age. “I was saying some good shit,” Scarface said. “I probably could never write like that again. But it’s a beautiful thing when you’re able to express yourself with words and people fall in love with your ability to deliver a story.”
