Young Thug Caught Napping in Court Amid Lengthy RICO Trial

Young Thug’s trial continued on August 7, marking day 107 of the proceedings. Fulton County Superior Court Judge Paige Reese Whitaker questioned the prosecution about the need to provide the defense with additional information. During the session, a viral clip surfaced showing Young Thug appearing to doze off while his attorney, Brian Steel, discussed allegations of gang leadership against him. Social media users humorously commented on the lengthy trial, with one saying, “106 days on trial, I’d be tired too!” and another noting that the case has become excessively drawn out.

On the same day, Steel filed a motion to exclude reports related to cell phone evidence that the prosecution had withheld. He argued that this was an “abuse of process,” stating that Young Thug now needed to consult independent experts to review the newly disclosed information.

Judge Whitaker set a deadline for the prosecution to address the defense’s requests for a mistrial or disqualifications by Friday, August 9. Jury and witness testimonies are scheduled to resume on Monday, August 12. The trial has gained notoriety as one of the longest in Georgia’s history, and Young Thug previously released his third studio album, BUSINESS IS BUSINESS, while incarcerated, featuring artists like Drake and 21 Savage.
